  abstract      = {The purpose of this paper is to present a methodology for identifying accounting objects. Different ways of identifying objects are initially presented, with emphasis on events-based and physical object-based methods. Utilizing as a starting point an example chart of accounts, this methodology will produce a hierarchical object model.The methodology develops an accounting information systems (AIS) chart of objects with the classes attributes and methods defined therein. The analysis of a financial accounting information systems (FAIS) cannot stop at this point. The chart of accounts has enabled the identification of classes and methods, but the question as to whether or not the chart of objects is complete needs to be ascertained.}
