  abstract      = {Enormous progress in computer technology including both hardware and software, has direct and significant impact on almost all branches of human activity. Also students are challenged to face problems caused by an invasion of computer- related applications. As a consequence, computer sciences have found a permanent position within most of the professional curricula provided by universities. However an efficient and effective teaching of such a quickly changing and rapidly evolving field is a nontrivial task. It is especially true with respect to agricultural universities where teaching of computer sciences should be carefully tailored for the specific needs of students. Also, often a rather modest initial background of some students should be taken into account. In this paper we present our views and experiences related to teaching of different aspects of computer sciences at Warsaw Agricultural University. We share our observations and encountered problems and try to t provide a coherent picture of our efforts in maintaining a high level of teaching. Some details regarding the content of the material we present to students are also given.}
