abstract = {The popularity of object technology as an implementation technique has perpetrated the entire lifecycle of systems development. Slowly but surely, structured analysis and design methods are being replaced by object approaches. The trend seems unstoppable and object analysis and design is applied almost independently of application domains and software implementation platforms. This includes the development of business information systems to be deployed on relational database software. As a result many „established” analysts and designers challenge the sanity of this change in software development practices and come up with questions for which answers are not always easy. In this article, I try to identify the more difficult of these questions and attempt to provide background explanations before declaring my position on each issue. }
