  abstract      = {Internal information systems, such as ERP software, play a vital role in supporting internal business processes. Integrating them with B2B marketplaces allows lowering transaction costs and shortening delivery times. Thus, it creates a true value-added and enhances the loyalty of the participating companies. This is a key success factor for independent B2B exchanges. From a process-centreed perception, the integration case facilitates the outsourcing of costly activities on the side of the member companies and the automation of their business processes. In this paper we propose an architecture for the integration of ERP systems with B2B marketplaces. Thereby, we focus on procurement oriented marketplaces, bringing together small and medium-sized buyers and sellers of Maintenance, Repair and Operating (MRO) goods. The concept takes into consideration a wide range of issues: an examination of the procurement and sales processes, a survey of common ERP systems as well as an inspection of integration technology and standardization efforts in the B2B area. Some parts of the presented concept have been realized at the electronic marketplace of the Atrada Trading Network AG (Nuremberg, Germany), which is one of the leading German horizontal third-party marketplaces. The implementation is based on the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) software.}
