  abstract      = {Executive information support systems have been increasingly developed and implemented in business, such as Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Executive Information Systems (EIS), yet their applications are still limited and often do not support intelligence functions. The over abundance of irrelevant information, the complex and dynamic business environment and the heterogeneous of executive information needs pose a great challenge for developing successful EIS. It is essential for having continuous, automatic and systematic functions that intelligently help senior executives identify, refine and process information that is relevant, meaningful and strategically important to them. The latest development and techniques used in agent technology shows that it is time for EIS to be intelligently supported. An agent-based environment is proposed for supporting executive intelligence activities that embraces executive information acquisition-synthesis-interpretation activities.}
