On-Campus Directions

The campus on Technikerstrasse cannot be accessed by car. Upon entering the campus from the north, walk south towards a four-story building with a small statue on top. Turn left in front of this building. Continue going straight ahead towards a large blue sign indicating the entrance of the ICT building (IQI Quantenoptik & Quanteninformatik).


Public Transportation

The two major bus lines going from the city center to the university buildings at Technikerstrasse are the "O" and the "T" bus.

Important stops of the "O" bus are: Sillpark, Landesmuseum, Museumstraße, Maria-Theresia-Straße (City Center), Marktplatz, Klinik, Technik (closest bus stop to the ICT Building).

Important stops of the "T" bus are: Fritz-Konzert-Straße, Westbahnhof, Westfriedhof, Freiburger Brücke, Mitterweg, Angergasse, Fischerhäuslweg, Vögelebichl, Lohbachsiedlung, Technik (closest bus stop to the ICT Building).

If you would like to use public transportation to get from the train station to our offices, you can take the "D/E" bus (direction: Hall, Kurhaus) and change at Marktplatz to the "O" bus (direction: Peerhofsiedlung, Allerheiligen). Please get off at bus stop "Technik". The bus ride takes about 20 minutes and costs € 1.70.

On regular workdays, the "D/E" and "O" buses run approx. every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes at night (until 22:30). The "T" bus runs every 15 minutes (until 21:00). Please visit the website of IVB [here] for a complete schedule.

You can buy bus tickets at the driver. Usually, the driver will have change but it is advisable to have small bills and coins.


By Car

A12 EXIT Kranebitten.
At the stop sign, turn left and keep following this street. At the roundabout, take the second exit. After a very sharp right turn the university campus appears on the right-hand side. You can park your car in the ICT car park, in the university car park or off-campus in the street (Attention: short term parking zone).


By Plane

The Innsbruck Airport is small and approached mainly by Austrian Airlines and SkyEurope. There are direct flights to and from the following cities:

  • Manchester
  • Liverpool
  • Vienna
  • Graz

A shuttle service is available which should be booked at least three days in advance of your arrival and will take you from Munich to Innsbruck in approx. 3 hours. To get to the ICT from the airport you should take a taxi. The taxi stops are located right in front of the airport's Arrivals building. It takes about 10 minutes to get from the airport to our offices and costs approx. € 8.-. Please let the taxi driver know that you would like to go to the University of Innsbruck, Technikerstraße 21 a, ICT-Gebäude; Nebenfahrbahn Kranebitter Allee.

By Train

Innsbruck's main train station is located in the city center. A taxi ride to the campus takes about 20 minutes and costs about €12.- Please let the taxi driver know that you would like to go to the University of Innsbruck , Technikerstraße 21a, ICT-Gebäude; Nebenfahrbahn Kranebitter Allee.
