European Research Projects Partner Search - Poster Session [cancelled]

BIS2004 is announcing an EU Projects Poster Session. The Session will be held during the BIS2004 conference and is aimed at providing professionals with an opportunity to present their early staged projects in order to be supported with technical counsel from leading authorities in the field. The main goal is to enable a partner search for individuals or organizations wishing to develop consortia capable of constructing EU FP proposals in the area of Information Science and Knowledge Management.

Please become acquainted with the following instructions before you begin lying out your abstract.

Submission

Each participant is expected to submit a brief description of the project (not more than 1000 words) in PDF/DOC/RTF format with a poster draft in PPT/PDF format before 31 January 2004 to bis2004@kie.ae.poznan.pl with “BIS2004 Poster Submission” in the subject line.

Poster’s Layout

Each project will be provided with a board space (height 138cm, width 98cm - about 4’ 6” x 3’ 2”). This space will be covered with seven A4 pages. First page should indicate project name, poster name if different to project name, organization (organizations). This page should contain only essential information and should be readable from sensible distance. The other six pages are intended for poster’s content (note that not all six pages are required, this states only acceptable maximum).

Acceptable poster’s layout

Formatting poster one should concern mostly its readability. Poster is not a content provider and therefore one should avoid placing too much text on one page.

Some formatting guidelines

  • visual elements like charts or tables are always more legible than plain text

  • proper usage of color and bold font gives reader insight in the structure of the poster

  • increased line spacing can be used to achieve better readability

  • dark background is usually not recommended

Presentation

During the Poster Session each project will be provided with board space. Posters will be displayed in lobbies throughout the conference. The contact with audience will happen every day during breaks. There is also going to be a specially arranged an one-hour session at the first day of the conference. All the posters will be published on the Web as well as on the CDROM conference proceedings.
